The house from the lake road, on a good morning.
“M.”, who kept this house before us.The likeness never develops properly. Tucked between the autumn forest and the still water of the lake, the Hotel of Seams has offered honest beds, hot coffee and the best pancakes on this side of the water for as long as anyone in Lakewood cares to remember. Whether you are passing through on the Old Lake Road or staying the season, you will find the radio playing, the griddle warm, and a key waiting on the rack. The hotel is under new management. The house and its customs remain exactly the same. Our door opens every morning when the sign turns. Not before. Folks around here are creatures of habit, and we find this comforting. 
Room 1, made up for arrival.
All stays include breakfast at the cafe. Guest rooms are upstairs, at the top of the stairs by the front desk — ask for one facing the water. The evenings are rainy here; bring a coat, whatever the season. Check-in from noon at the front desk. Ring the bell once. One key per guest; kindly return it to the rack when you leave. The rack remembers.

Our cafe serves the village as much as it serves the hotel — if you want to know Lakewood, take a counter seat at eight. The radio plays, the coffee is honest, and the regulars order the same thing every single morning.

Reports at the lake Sheriff Donovan is investigating sightings of violet lights above the north woods, three nights running. “It's not the first time,” says local fisherman Esteban Morales. Residents are advised to avoid the pier after dark. Our little lake makes the paper now and then. Lightning, according to the authorities. Items our guests have forgotten, kept at the front desk. Unclaimed items are held for thirty days, then longer.
“The pancakes alone are worth the drive around the lake. The grey cat supervised our breakfast and approved. Five stars from both of us.” “I have rested correctly. The room was comfortable. The building is... adequate. I believe that is the word. The money is counted.”
